Does anybody know what the laws in the State of Texas are for carrying/transporting firearms in your home and in your vehicle?  I do not have a CHL yet, but I did take the class about 9 years ago, and I think I remember most of what was covered.  However, I am sure that a bunch has changed over that time period.

I think I found the answer to my questions in a thread on The Kel-Tec Range: http://www.ktrange.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=7249

This seems to be the most recent update of the State gun laws: http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/ftp/forms/ls-16.pdf

In Texas if you are transporting a handgun as long as it is concealed in the vehicle you have no worries. Long guns can be in the open in Texas, like a gun rack or something, but that is not to say there is anything wrong with carrying the long gun in a case of some sort.
